Bank of Azusa Created; Azuro Made National Currency

Recently, the National Assembly approved the creation of the Bank of Azusa, a government run bank that is to print currency and maintains its value. The Councilors voted 6-0 on the designs for the Azuro banknotes and the creation of the bank.

This is amongst the first benefits of the Republic since its formations.

On another note, the Ministry of Defense grabbed a budget increase so that it could upgrade its security personal.

Chairman Long Ousted

Yesterday, the National Assembly voted on whether to oust Chairman Cody Long of the Fascist Party. The vote was unanimous, 6-0. Councilor Orion McCann of the Bushido Party was selected as his replacement. The decision to oust Mr. Long was not based upon his party’s name, the Fascist Party

“The decision to oust (Mr. Long) was based primarily on the fact of his lack of attendence to the National Assembly Meetings,” commented Doge Jefferson Kloepfer.

Mr. Long will remain a Councilor but he will not hold any Ministry posts. As of Monday, October 12th, five Ministries were created: the Ministries of Defense, Economics, Foreign Affairs, Science and the Arts, and the Overseeing Ministry.

Ms. Kelly Burkenbine was replaced by Emma Freeman on October the 12th based upon the fact that she “could not attend the meetings when needed.”

Bushido Party Wins Majority, Despite Scandal

Just when Orion McCann thought that he won the office of Chairman of the National Council and the National Assembly, a scandal was revealed. Apparently, Mr. McCann and the Doge-elect, Jefferson Kloepfer, fixed the elections so that McCann and the Bushido Party would win unanimously in the elections. The scandal included redistribution of votes, counting of undecided votes, and “giving away votes”, says Mr. Kloepfer

The election fraud was discovered by Mr. Ty Grittner and Mr. Daniel Kloepfer. Mr. Grittner is the candidate for the Nationalist Party and he was appalled that when he found out that the election was fixed. With the correct results, he would have won office. However, with this fixed elections and redistribution of the votes, Mr. Grittner would have not won.

The Doge-Elect, Mr. Jefferson Kloepfer, publically apoligized for his part in the scandal and issued de facto Executive Order No. 8, the Recount Order.

A new Election Committee was created with Mr. Jefferson Kloepfer and Mr. Daniel Kloepfer. Together, they recounted the votes and accurately found who won which office. Altogether, there were 1500 votes casted. Of these, 77 were undecided, 233 went to the Fascist Party, 227 went to the Nationalist Party, and 963 went to the Bushido Party. Thus, the Bushido Party is the Majority Party.

Of those who ran for office, 6 were elected to the positions of 1 Chairman and 5 Councilors, including 4 members of the National Council. The Chairman-elect is Cody Long of the Fascist Party, with 233 votes. Since Mr. McCann and Ms. Burkenbine came in second and last respectively, they were automatically elected to the position of Councilor. They are the 1st and 2nd Councilor. Both ran under the Bushido Party ticket and each won 160 and 140 respectively.

For the remaining Councilor positions, Mr. Ty Grittner of the Ntionalist Party came in 3rd with 227 votes. Mr. Tyler Freeman of the Bushido Party came in 4th with 137 votes. 5th would have gone to Ms. Ali Ziegeldorf of the Bushido Party, but she is unable to fulfill the office of Councilor. Thus, her seat went to Mr. David Allen of the Bushido Party.

As for the office of Doge, Mr. Jefferson Kloepfer won by default as he was the only one runnign for that position. He got 157 votes, which will be distributed at the next election.

There was much confusion on how the ballots worked, including adding candidates, undecided votes and votes casted for an office with one candidate. That is why the Doge-Elect issued de facto Executive Order No. 9-the Ballot and Election Process Reform. Upon the next election, a new voting system will be created and mistakes in the past will be corrected.

All officers are to be sworn in on Monday the 12th of October. They are to met every other week at the temporary National Assembly Building at 1114 9th Ave.

More Candidates Sign Up

Today saw a massive increase in the number of candidates in the first National Elections. Five more people signed up to run for the position of Councilor. They all are running under the Bushido Party platform. They are Trysh Veltri, Ali Ziegeldorf, Emma Freeman, Tyler Freeman, and David Allen. The Bushido Party is the expected universal winner in tomorrow’s elections. 1800 votes are up for grabs by the candidates. Only 6 will be elected.

Candidates Announced For Elections

As of today, October 7th, just two days before elections, five candidates have been announced by the Electoral Commission. For the office of Doge, Mr. Jefferson Kloepfer of the Bushido Party is running unopposed. For the office of Chairman (the only time such an office will be elected directly), Mr. Orion McCann, Mr. Cody Long, and Ms. Kelly Burkenbine are the three candidates. Both Mr. McCann and Ms. Burkenbine are running under the Bushido Party platform and Mr. Long is running under the Fascist Party. For the office of Councilor, the defeated candiates for the position of Chairman will become Councilors. In addition, Mr. Ty Grittner of the Nationalist Party is running for the office. Mr. Grittner is the youngest of the candidates running. Both Mr. Long and Mr. Grittner need luck and charm if they are to be elected to their desire positions.

Elections are to be held this Friday. Other candidates may appear as the window of opportunity closes.

Govenment Establishes Online Newspaper

The de facto Doge of the Republic of Azusa, Jefferson Kloepfer, announced the creation of the Azusa Times. This online newspaper was created by unwritten Executive Order No. 5 as a means of ‘communicating the actions of the Repuclic and her government to the People’ commented Mr. Kloepfer. This is the end of a series of unwritten Executive Orders including the Land Grab Order, the Political Party Establishment Order, and the Election Date Order. There are only a few days left of unauthorized privileges of the government since elections are to be held on the 9th of October, this coming Friday.

Doge Jefferson Kloepfer, Grand Duchess Erin Tennesen, and Chairman Cody Long make up the de facto government. An official government is to be sworn in within two weeks, says Mr. Kloepfer. Mr. Kloepfer is expected to run in the General Elections under the Bushido Party, along with Ms. Tennesen. Mr. Long is expected to run under the Fascist Party platform.

Other de facto Executive Orders are also expected this week, this reporter says.
